IBBIO

Independent Bible Baptist Institute Online (IBBIO)

Independent Bible Baptist Institute Online (IBBIO) was founded in 1996 by Dr. Shelby Mayo. The founding thought was "for a time such as this" because in times like these, a school such as, IBBIO, can utilize the tremendous communication facilities of the WEB system to meet a great need. The purpose of IBBIO is to provide missionaries with some of the resources needed to prepare men and women for the work of ministering the Word of God. The Scripture verse we have chosen for the Institute, "For the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ" states the very purpose for which the Institute was founded and for which it exists. May it stand firm and true to that cause until the appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Finances

The Institute is maintained by faith as the Lord provides. The future as well as the present is in the hands of God who is always faithful.

Purpose

The Institute seeks to provide instruction and training for Christian men and women, who desire such preparation in order that they may be of service to the work of the gospel.

Standard of Conduct

We believe that the Scriptures clearly delineate principles which govern Christian conduct, that these principles are obligations which every believer must heed; and that the principles include deference toward weaker brethren. Our behaviour should not hinder the faith of other believers and should not become a stumbling block to the lost.

Before any student is enrolled in a program with BBIO or one of its affiliates, he must sign a statement signifying his willingness to adhere to the standards and regulations of the Institute. Students who do not cooperate in maintaining the standards of conduct established by the Institute may be requested to withdraw.

We believe that for the sake of Christian testimony and the achievement of our purposes, we must abstain from the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and the non-medical use of narcotic drugs; and not participate in activities which are considered inappropriate by the students home church. We also believe that Christians have an obligation to dress appropriately, to avoid wearing of extreme fashions and to have sincere respect for the Lord's Day. We prayerfully seek to serve Christ in an atmosphere free from personal attitudes of distrust, dishonesty, selfishness, damaging criticism, disrespect, unethical conduct and irreverence.

Students are urged to set aside a definite period each day for private devotions. Regular attendance at prayer meetings aids the student in maintaining a healthy spiritual life. All students are required to attend church services regularly.

Student Life

Students gain excellent practical experience in Christian service as they participate in teaching Sunday School classes; conduct hospital, mission and jail services; teach Bible clubs, and participate in other activities in their churches. Every student is encouraged to participate in some area of Christian service. It is the belief of the Institute administration and faculty that this experience provides a vital means of achieving the stated objectives of the Institute. Students should seek opportunities for experience and service in local church ministries such as youth meetings, music, junior churches, nurseries, Sunday School teaching and preaching opportunities.
